Our recent design photography shoot: The serrated enclosure created by the series of small concrete monoliths of Ball Nogues Studio’s Orchard installation in Sylmar’s El Cariso Park creates an island of raised lavender. A place where children were overheard, while I was photographing it, to say “This one is really cool because you can climb all over it!” At times appearing as a sailing ship over the grass, complete with what could be interpreted as a bowsprit and rudder, Orchard beckons us with the potentials of humming solids. One of the pleasing things about this project was how I was able to incorporate my interest in landscape photography with creating images of my client’s installation work.
